You've ordered a burger, and there it is, arriving at your table – massive, overflowing, incredibly appetizing with cheddar, pickles, and ketchup enhancing the juicy patty. Then comes the awkward moment: you lift it to your mouth, and it doesn't quite fit; the pickles slide, and the patty protrudes. It no longer looks appealing. Well, there happens to be a proper way to hold your burger to avoid such mishaps. Some time ago, as reported by Kotaku, a Japanese TV show invited three researchers—experts in fluid mechanics, engineering, and dentistry— to determine the best way to hold and eat a big burger. Using 3D modeling, they studied how burger particles interacted when combined and observed that the usual way of eating a burger (thumbs underneath, the rest of the fingers on top) caused the elements to slip out of the bun. The solution, after careful consideration: the thumb and pinky should be underneath the burger. And don't hold it too tightly.
